In December 2021, with funding received through a grant from Community Aid, Anchor opened a Winter Warming Center from December through March 2022.  That first year, 160 individuals utilized the Day Shelter. 

In June 2023, funded by The Housing Authority, Anchor expanded to include a Summer Day Center which provided a safe space for 162 individuals over the hot summer months.  

At both the Winter & Summer Day Shelters, guests are welcomed in out of the weather to enjoy fellowship and hot or cold beverages, use the restrooms, and have the opportunity to charge their phones. The buzz of conversation each day is heartwarming!  They are also encouraged to meet with a visiting nurse from Penn State Health with medical concerns and connect with our caseworker, Connor, for help with other needs.
